I am prolly going to receive alot of hate mail for this. But in the post wears fluffie and underwear. you're right. I'm not judging you. I juss want you to have more repsect for yourself as a woman You should know better. there is nothing sexy about being a hot sweaty half naked mess. Kandi Kids wear clothes.
Being able to respect oneself as a woman means being able to confident about how you express your femininity and sexuality. One of these ways is to wear what you like and what makes you feel comfortable despite others’ opinions of you, be it reams of pony beads or fluffy legwarmers. By the end of the night, all ravers are a hot mess whether they’re fully clothed or not.
There are certain clothes that are the trademark of classic candy kids and, while I would agree that I don’t necessarily feel that legwarmers and underwear are among them, no one should ever feel that they aren’t “candy kid” enough or “raver” enough because they aren’t wearing a certain kind of clothing. Raving is about being yourself.
dont fucking hate on those girls. part of rave culture is SUPPOSED to be being accepted for who you are and whatever you choose to do. If a girl wants to wear underwear, let her. if she wants to show off her body that she’s proud of, let her. also it’s KANDI, not candy.
New Years Eve I forgot my shorts at home and wore my brother’s *clean* boxers as shorts so I didn’t have to wear jeans. And you know what? I told pretty much everyone and laughed about it and they all thought it was great or crazy or couldn’t even tell.
By judging people for what they wear to raves/shows/events/festivals, you’re forgetting PLUR. Don’t be such dicks.
This is a submission, meaning it does not reflect the views or opinions of the creator of Jaded Candy Kid Chameleon (me). Firstly, “candy kid” has had many spelling variants over the years, so there’s really no point in correcting the spelling. Secondly, nowhere does this particular image mention that the ridiculed is female. Believe it or not, there are plenty of men who wear both “fluffies” and show up in their underwear. Until a little while ago, this was considered go-go/club attire rather than “rave attire”, which is a foolish concept anyway considering that, as mentioned, raves encourage individuals to be themselves. To conform to a style of dress or appearance simply because one believes it’s what raves endorse, so to speak, completely invalidates the idea of raving.
That being said, one of the main trademarks of a candy kid is wearing kandi, which is neither fluffies nor underwear. In addition, being a candy kid is more of a personality than an appearance, though there is stereotypical/classic candy kid attire. The point being that this meme is not about what the raver is wearing that decides whether or not he or she is a candy kid; the point is that what you are wearing doesn’t determine whether or not you are a candy kid. Just because you’re wearing phat pants and bracelets to your shoulders doesn’t mean you are a candy kid if you are a fame-hungry trendie trying to latch on to the newest cool thing. The joke in this meme is that someone thinks they can put on an outfit (or costume, really, in their cases) and call themselves a candy kid when it is much more than that. You are not magically a candy kid by putting on certain clothes.
I would like to personally apologize for any slut-shaming or body-shaming assumed in this post. And this is what I get for opening the submissions box! Yikes!
Sorry again for the misunderstanding. We hope all candy kids and other ravers will continue to enjoy (Jaded) Candy Kid Chameleon. :)
